Under the contract, Sagem will supply and integrate two EOMS-NG systems onboard each of the three Mistral-class projection and command (BPC) ships and on the second Foudre-class landing craft transport vessel, Siroco (L9012), in 2014.
The Sagem-built EOMS-NG is a day-night, multifunction, gyrostabilised optronic system, designed to provide complete 360° functionality, including infrared surveillance, identification, tracking, laser range-finding and fire control.
Once deployed, the EOMS-NG system will enable ships to assess their environment and control self-defence weapons, while improving the safety of helicopter operations.
Featuring a very short reaction time between detection and engagement capabilities, the single unit high-performance system incorporates a day-night infrared search and track (IRST) type passive panoramic observation, identification, tracking and fire control.
