Não são fragatas, mas sim patrulhas e bem antigos, comprados quase a preço de sucata.
A compensação é noutros negócios.

The Type 62 Coastal Defense Boat, also known, as the Shanghai class, is a low-cost patrol boat made famous during the Indochina war of 1960s in service with the North Vietnamese Navy. Amazingly, this primitive is still in production after more then 300 examples were built. The Type 62 serves today as a first assignment for many of People’s Liberation Amy-Navy (PLAN) recruits and remains in service with many world navies.

DEVELOPMENT:

During the early 1950s, the PLAN began to design and manufacture small gunboats for patrol and continued naval warfare with Nationalist force around the Taiwan Strait . Initially, there were no coordinated building efforts among ships yards. Luda Shipyard laid down the Type 53 class littoral combatant while Qingdao Shipyard build the Type 55 class. In addition there were piecemeal production runs at both the Shanghai and Guangzhou shipyards. Those earlier types performed poorly as patrol boats and as combatant gunboats.

In addition there were piecemeal production runs at both the Shanghai and Guangzhou shipyards. Those earlier types performed poorly as patrol boats and as combatant gunboats.

In late 1950s, an order from the PLAN called the production of a single 100 tons class with higher speed and greater firepower to fulfill littoral combat need. In February 1959, the Navy Ship Repair and Manufacture Department combined the strengths of several earlier models designed by various shipyards and the naval academy into a standard new model of patrol boat. Construction began on this new model in May 1960 at Dalian Shipyard, and after 2 years of trials, the design was finalized in November 1962.

The first prototype was coded as the 0111 with a displacement of 125 tons. After the completion of the third prototype, the single 57mm cannon was replaced by a twin 37mm cannon, speed increased to 30 knots, and weight reduced to 115 tons. The modified design was officially accepted as Type 62 Model 0111A with official designation of Model 62 Coastal Defense Boat. Series production began the very same year.

The first three 0111 prototypes were exported to North Vietnam and later sunk.

Helicopter Deck and Hangar Modification on ‘Leopold 1' Handed Over

(Source: Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding; dated April 7, web-posted April 20, 2010)

On 7th of April 2010 the helicopter deck and hangar modification on board of the M-Class Frigate ‘Leopold 1' (ex HMNLS ‘Karel Doorman' ) was handed over to the Defence Material Organisation (DMO) of the Netherlands, who acted on behalf of the Belgian Navy.

Effectively, the ‘Leopold 1’ berthed at our shipyard in Vlissingen in July 2009, after which the program immediately started with the aim to modify the helicopter deck and hangar in order to allow future operations with the NH 90 helicopter.

The following main activities have been performed:

--Lengthening of the hangar, including the installation of the helicopter securing and traversing system
--Helicopter deck lengthening, including all required adjustments to the flight deck arrangement (reallocation of existing helicopter grid, steelwork modifications for the installation of the rails in flight deck, new lightning and antenna arrangements)
--Integration of the helicopter traversing control position, including o.a. the installation of the control equipment
--Installation of a new, enlarged hangar door
--Enlarging the Flight Deck Officer Room
--Adjusting the helicopter auxiliary and Damage Control Systems.

Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding delivered the modified ‘Leopold 1' on schedule and within budget to the DMO, whereby the collaboration with Belgium Navy and the Project Team of DMO have positively contributed to this tripartite success.

The Royal Netherlands Navy Takes Delivery of Its First NH90 NFH

(Source: NH Industries; issued April 21, 2010)

AIX-EN-PROVENCE, France --- NHIndustries is pleased to announce the delivery of the first NH90NFH helicopter to the Royal Netherlands Navy during an official ceremony held today at AgustaWestland’s Vergiate plant in Italy.

The Royal Netherlands Navy has ordered a total of 20 NH90NFH aircraft, today’s event marks the first delivery of a naval NH90NFH variant to a customer.

The Dutch, French, Italian, Norwegian and Belgian navies have ordered a total of 111 NH90 NFH naval helicopters which will give operators a dramatic improvement in operational capability and mission effectiveness, thanks to the outstanding technology incorporated in to the NH90.

The NH90 NFH variant is primarily designed for autonomous Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) and Anti Surface Warfare (ASuW) missions.

The comprehensive mission equipment packages allow a wide range of additional missions to be performed including Search and Rescue (SAR), maritime patrol, vertical replenishment, troop transport, medical evacuation and amphibious support roles. The helicopter is designed for embarked operations to be performed by day and night in adverse weather conditions.

Due to its weight and dimensions, the deck-lock system, the deck traversing system and the automatic blade and tail folding system, it can operate from small frigates even in high sea states.

The NH90 is the most successful European helicopter programme ever. A total of 529 firm orders have been placed by 19 armed forces in 14 countries including France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, The Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Greece, Spain and Belgium in Europe, as well as Australia, Oman and New Zealand overseas and 44 NH90 helicopters are already in service today.

The NH90, developed in the TTH utility transport and NFH naval versions, proves the ideal solution to meet requirements from many potential additional customers worldwide for a large number of missions.

Today’s delivery is a key event that paves the way to the operational entry in service of the NH90 in its naval version. This is also a strong message addressed to potential worldwide customers that the NH90 NFH has arrived on the scene.

The NH90 programme is managed by NAHEMA (NATO Helicopter Management Agency) representing France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands and Portugal, and by the NH Industries industrial consortium comprising Eurocopter (62.5%), AgustaWestland (32%), and Fokker Aerostructures (5.5%). (ends)
