As for the Russian telecommunication equipment and missile control systems  which remain in the two LHDs, France has paid €57,6 million for it as well as for repaying the money that Moscow  had given for the training of the crews. This has been published by a Russian news agency which quotes, without denying it, a report published in "Defense News".

MTA/Laivue 2020 – Who Forgot the Marketing?
Citação de: "Corporal Frisk"
The Minister of Defence yesterday officially gave the Finnish Defence Forces the go-ahead to start the procurement program of the next squadron of ships for the Finnish Navy. This program, going under the name of Laivue 2020 (fi. Squadron 2020), has as its stated aim the procurement of four (at the moment) corvettes to replace the three minelayers of the Pohjanmaa- and Hämeenmaa-classes, as well as the four light fast attack craft of the Rauma-class.

Egypt May Receive Ka-52K Naval Helicopters for its 2 Mistral class LHD as Part of Deal with Russia

According to Russian state owned news agency TASS, Russia and Egypt have signed an agreement on supplies of fifty helicopters of the Ka-52 Alligator family and Moscow does not rule out delivery of the deck-based version of these helicopters. The Ka-52K is the deck-based version of the Ka-52 Alligator combat helicopter initially developed for Mistral LHD ordered in France in 2011.

"An agreement on the supplies of fifty Ka-52 helicopters has been signed," he said. "If the Egyptian side finds it necessary, the sea-based version of the helicopters will be supplied."

The French presidency announced on September 23 that Egypt will acquire the two Mistral LHDs originally intended for Russia. "President of the French Republic met with the President Abdel Fattah Al Sissi. They agreed on the principle and terms of the purchase by Egypt of two Mistral class amphibious vessels" according to the official statement of the French presidency.

Sources in the Russian Navy’s Main Headquarters told TASS in August that the Russian Navy expects to receive the first Kamov Ka-52K (Katran) ship-borne helicopters in 2017-2018. The helicopters were earlier intended to be based on two Mistral helicopter carriers, which France has refused to deliver to Russia over Moscow's stance on developments in neighboring Ukraine.

Russian Helicopters rotocraft manufacturer and Russia’s Defense Ministry earlier said Ka-52K helicopters would be based on other ships of the Russian Navy instead of Mistrals. Russian Helicopters has also said the company expects deck-based Alligator helicopters to enjoy demand on international arms markets.

Egypt has yet to select helicopters for Mistrals

Egypt has not ordered the naval version of the Ka-52 attack helicopter  for its Mistral-class helicopter-carriers, Serguei Chemizov, general director of Russia's Rostec, defence holding company, has confirmed.

"If Egypt still decides to acquire the Mistrals, then we will of course offer our helicopters, because they were adapted and created precisely for this ship", Chezenov told reporters on 30 September. (...)

After France announced the Mistral sale, a Russian military-diplomatic source told the TASS news agency that Egypt had ordered  50 Ka-52 attack helicopters. "If Egypt deems it necessary, the Ka-52K ship-based version will be supplied ", the source said,  suggesting Egypt did not ordered the helicopters specifically for the Mistrals.

The most obvious difference between the Ka-52K and the original version is that the former has folding rotor blades and stub wings so it takes less  deck/hangar space. (...)

Key Points
Russia may offer its final three Project 11356M frigates for export
Funding for the vessels would be reassigned to accelerate other programmes
Russia is hoping to find an export customer for the final three Admiral Grigorovich-class (Project 11356M) frigates currently being built for the Russian Navy, a source told IHS Jane's .

"The Defence Ministry is reallocating the money, initially set aside for the other three frigates, to the construction of other ships it badly needs. Meetings of Defence Ministry and Federal Military Technical Co-operation Service officials suggested that a solution could be to export the ships," the source said.

The vessels are being constructed at the Kaliningrad-based Yantar Shipyard and use a Ukrainian Zorya-Mashproyekt gas-turbine propulsion plant. While Russia has already received the propulsion systems for the first three vessels, Ukraine's termination of defence exports to Russia has left the final three without their turbines.

Saturn was to build alternative M90FP turbines for the class under Russia's import substitution programme. However these cannot be completed before 2019-2020, with this further delay to an already delayed build programme not suiting the Russian Navy.

While Ukraine will not supply the engines to Russia, the option is open for an export customer to acquire the vessels from Russia and the engines separately from Ukraine.

The Indian Navy has expressed an interest in receiving three Admiral Grigorovich-class vessels, which are based on its six Russian-built Talwar-class frigates. However, in July India noted it was looking to licence-build the design in India, rather than to purchase them already built. It is not clear whether India has now changed its aims to licence-build the vessels, or whether it may look to do both.

The first-of-class Admiral Grigorovich is currently conducting state sea trials, and is expected to be delivered to the Russian Navy's Black Sea Fleet in November (two years behind schedule).

The Littoral Combat Ship USS Independence (LCS 2)

US to sell Saudi Arabia four advanced warships

The US government has approved an $11 billion deal to sell Saudi Arabia four advanced warships, amid mounting regional tensions.

Saudi Arabia is modernizing its eastern fleet, which faces off against Iranian forces across the oil-rich Gulf.

The four ships, based on US Navy's littoral combat ship, are relatively small but designed to be fast and manoeuvrable in shallow water  and to pack a punch. (...)

Dubbed a "multi-mission surface combatant ship" in its export version, the ships carry dozens of Sparrow anti-aircraft missiles and Harpoon anti-ship missiles.

Its main gun is the 76 mm OTO Melara, built in Italy, but the main contract for the vessels will go to US arms giant Lockheed-Martin. (...)

Egypt May Buy AH-64 Helicopters For the Two Mistral-Class Helicopter Carriers
(10 de Novembro de 2015)

Egypt may buy AH-64  attack helicopters for the two Mistral-class helicopter carriers.

At the Dubai airshow, a Boeing executive revealed that his company is expecting Egypt to buy more AH-64 attack helicopters in 2016. Helicopters may be used for the two Mistral-class helicopter carriers.

Previous Russia and Egypt may launch substantive negotiations on the supplies of Kamov Ka-52K Katran reconnaissance and attack helicopters for the Mistral class helicopter carriers only after the dismantlement of Russian equipment from the warships is completed, head of Rostec State Corporation Sergey Chemezov said on Monday.

The equipment dismantling operation is being conducted in France and is to be completed before the end of November. Since the equipment has not been removed, Russia has not yet received an official request from Egypt for the purchase of the helicopters, Chemezov said at the Dubai Airshow-2015 international aerospace exhibition.

"Egypt has not yet made the request because our equipment has not been dismantled yet from the Mistrals. As soon as the work is over, we'll be able to offer both our equipment and our helicopters," he said. "The dismantlement is carried out jointly by our and French specialists," the Rostec chief said, without specifying the timeframe for the work completion.
