Being landlocked, Switzerland does not have a navy, but it does maintain a fleet of military patrol boats, numbering 10 in 2006. They patrol the Swiss lakes: Lake Geneva, Lake Lucerne and Lake Constance. These boats are sometimes humorously referred to as the "Swiss Navy".

The navy consists of about 2,000 personnel divided into three service branches. The Navy of Paraguay is the largest Navy of any landlocked country. The air force, the newest and smallest of the services, has about 1,500 personnel
The Bolivian Naval Force, formerly Bolivian Navy (in Spanish, Armada Boliviana) does exist, though the country has been landlocked since the War of the Pacific in 1879. Bolivia has large rivers that are tributaries to the Amazon which are patrolled to prevent smuggling and drug trafficking. There is also a Bolivian Naval presence on Lake Titicaca, the highest (altitude wise) navigable lake in the world.As of 1989 Navy personnel numbered 3800, which included 2000 naval infantry and marines.
The pre-production aircraft was first spotted by United States reconnaissance satellites in November of that year; it was dubbed Ram-L because it was observed at the Zhukovsky flight test center near the town of Ramenskoye. Early Western speculations suggested that the Ram-L was very similar in appearance to the YF-17 Cobra and powered by afterburning Tumansky R-25 turbojets.
