TF-2000 Destroyer Construction Heralds New Era in Türkiye’s Steel Dome Naval Air Shield.

Türkiye has launched the construction of its first TF-2000 air defense warfare destroyer at the Istanbul Naval Shipyard Command. The milestone strengthens the country’s broader Steel Dome architecture, a nationwide effort to expand indigenous air and missile defense capabilities.

At the forum held at Istanbul Shipyard within the scope of TEKNOFEST Blue Homeland, Navy personnel involved in the project described the aircraft carrier's technical capabilities:

💢 10,000 nautical mile range: "Our national aircraft carrier can go to New York and return without refueling."

💢 40 MW electrical power: Energy capacity equivalent to 3,000 homes.

💢 ÇAFRAD radar: 750 km range, to be integrated into the ship.

💢 National Vertical Launch System with 32 cells: Air defense + strike capability.

💢 Electronic warfare and sonar systems: Features not found in many aircraft carriers around the world.

💢 Survivability concept: Low radar signature, blast-resistant design.
