Quantos P-3s tem Portugal e quantos em linha ?

5 P-3C CUP+ Orion
4 + 2 P-3C CUP Orion

11 no total  ?  Quantos em linha ?

Tanto quanto tenho conhecimento 4 dos P-3C CUP+ Orion estão ativos. O outro estará em manutenção/modernização, tal como aconteceu com os restantes 4, em Halifax, Canadá.

Já os 4 P-3C CUP Orion julgo ainda não haver posição final sobre o seu destino...

4 em linha , quando um país como Portugal deveria ter no mínimo uma esquadra com 12 !

Andei a ver no "YHZ Halifax Airport Spotters" e não há qualquer registo de algum P-3C da FAP...

A informação que tenho é que acabou por não ir, mas não faltará muito.

A Alemanha só vendia tudo em pack. Não dava para escolher o que se queria.
Mas o que interessa é quantas equipas vamos ter, ter 12 operacionais e depois só ter 2 equipas não faz sentido.

A Força Aérea pode querer ver primeiro o estado da estrutura de todos os aviões (isto não é novo), para depois decidir quais vale a pena modernizar.

Os que não forem modernizados, devem ficar para peças.

Porventura poderia ser um conceito interessante para o pós-P-3C CUP+. O problema é que dos nossos aliados geograficamente mais próximos, apenas o nosso país aparenta ser neste momento um sério candidato a futuro cliente do Boeing P-8A. Espanha já fez a sua escolha, França certamente seguirá para o A321 MPA, e a Itália anda a namorar uma versão "italianizada/ocidentalizada" do Kawasaki P-1.

Denmark is flirting with the Poseidon

The Danish Minister of Defense Troels Lund Poulsen said on 16 September 2025 that the country's military may buy a fleet of Boeing P-8A Maritime Patrol Aircraft to help boost the surveillance of the Faroe Islands and Greenland, both semi-autonomous Danish territories. The possible billion dollar acquisition is part of the Nordic nation's plan to sharply boost its military hardware. Poulsen also said that he is interested to collaborate with other NATO countries in order to get the most value for our money and to have a greater degree of flexibility. If that proves impossible, Denmark is also willing to purchase the Poseidons on their own.

A purchase with neighbouring countries, like the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, the three Baltic states and Belgium are realistic options. In the near past, the Netherlands eyed for the MPA too. The country revealed today its new increased defense budget and has a very high level of what is happening in their North Sea area of operations / responsibility. A joint program, comparable with the A330 of the Multinational MRTT Unit and the C-17A of the Heavy Airlift Wing is very well possible with the P-8s too. Other countries in the region: Norway has already five P-8s in its inventory, the UK has nine, while Germany is expecting the first of eight ordered P-8As later this year or early 2026.

The number of P-8s involved is not reported by Poulsen and he reported that any acquisition must first be approved by the Danish parliament. But Denmark, like most European countries, has the wind in its sails in defense spending. The Royal Danish Air Force never possessed a dedicated MPA and relies on the EH101, MH-60R, and CL604 for this mission. Poulsen said the threat level in the Arctic was increasing and that it is necessary to get a better picture of movements, the P-8s could be of help. The combat proven successful P-8A could be delivered quite soon, while a European competitor like the Airbus A321 MPA for now only exists on the computer.

Tuesday 16th September RAF Lossiemouth witnessed the final departure of German Navy PC-3 Orion 4531 following a night stop during its European 'Farewell Tour'.
Perhaps we might see this airframe back in future in Portuguese Air Force markings with a German P-8A Poseidon on the ramp at the same time!
