Europe is cutting down forests halfway around the world, grinding them into pellets and shipping them across the Atlantic to burn in its power stations.

Unsurprisingly, the total emissions here are higher than simply burning coal, according to studies by the EU's own scientific advisors.

But countries like the UK, Denmark and the Netherlands do it anyway, because it technically counts as zero carbon emissions.

Esses milhões de árvores são cortadas pela indústria americana e do canada e depois vendem os detritos que não utilizam. Eu próprio vivo perto de uma central de biomassa. Curiosamente não existe uma crítica do texto aos milhares de árvores cortadas pelo EUAs 🤣 só os malvados dos europeus que utilizam detritos que antigamente ia para o lixo ridículo

Building one gigawatt of solar capacity is not 'clean'.

It requires around 18.5 tons of silver, 3,400 tons of polysilicon, and more than 10,000 tons of aluminium.

Producing the polysilicon alone consumes thousands of tons of quartz, coal, petroleum, coke, charcoal and wood chips.

Refining the silver for one gigawatt uses roughly 4,600 megawatt hours of electricity, the annual power use of 400 US homes.

Producing the aluminum consumes nearly 2 million gigajoules of energy, enough to power more than 100,000 households for a year.

Solar power is built with massive fossil energy inputs. Only the output is labelled 'green'. These are the realities campaigners never want to talk about.

Reaching Net Zero by 2050 would require mining 4.5 million tons of copper, 940 million tons of nickel, 9 billion tons of graphite, and 4 million tons of germanium.

At current global mining rates, that scale of extraction would take more than 1,000 years.

Mining capacity cannot be multiplied by orders of magnitude in just 24 years.

Permitting timelines alone are measured in decades, and energy inputs rise as deposits degrade.

Most constraints are physical, not political.

Net Zero targets violate material reality.

They're never going to happen.
