F88 HMS GLASGOW - 1ST T26 FRIGATE NAMED
(22/05/25)
HRH the Princess Catherine of Wales formally named the RN’s first T26 ASW frigate today at BAES Scotstoun yard on the Clyde where the ship has been fitting out for the last 2 years.
F88 HMS Glasgow will start Builder’s Trials later this year and once those are complete later in 2026 the ship will be commissioned into RN service for its first of class FOST assessments and work up to Intial Operating Capability in 2027 and Full Operating Capability in early 2028.
The 2nd of class F89 HMS Cardiff is already being fitted out in the adjacent dock and expected to enter service about a year after the Glasgow. Under present plans each of remaining 6 T26 ships will enter service in 15 month intervals out to 2035.
