Indra Deploys the SIVE External Surveillance System on the Coast of Almeria
(Source: Indra Sistemas; issued March 25, 2005)
The Ministry of the Interior, through the Secretariat of State for Security, has selected Indra to deploy the Integral System of External Surveillance (SIVE), managed by the General Directorate of the Guardia Civil, on the coast of Almeria for a cost of 7.54 million euros.
The Spanish company has been awarded this project and thus becomes one of the suppliers for the SIVE programme, designed for border surveillance and, more particularly, illegal immigration in the Straits of Gibraltar area.
Indra will implement an integral system which includes four sensor stations, three of which have a radar system and electro-optical systems, including thermal imaging cameras and infra-red cameras for daytime and night-time surveillance, and a fourth one with just optronic systems. A control centre brings together all the information data proceeding from the stations.
The contract also includes a rapid maintenance commitment, offering a breakdown repair service within 48 hours.
This contract strengthens Indra’s position in the surveillance systems area, as it enters into a reference programme for the control of Spanish borders. Thus, it offers Indra a great potential in the international market due to the States’ increasing concern for border control.
