"- Precisam de ajuda?";
"Não, obrigado."

Passa o tempo e o tiroteio intensifica-se...

"- Estão a precisar de ajuda?"
"Não, obrigado."

O tiroteio aumenta de violência mas, por fim, o silêncio.

"Inimigo eliminado."

Gosto disso. c34x

Era bom ter uns instrutores de lá...

Um episódio que demonstra a boa preparação dos coreanos...

The CO backed up a couple of paces, brought up his M-2 carbine and, with great pantomime, jacked one up the snout and snicked the safety off. At 15 yards he put a burst of automatic fire a millimeter to the side of the VC’s head”. The Koreans didn’t allow Page to photograph the incident. “I slumped off to join the Americans while the VC spilled his story. Minutes later, when I was taking a leak, he was led down the hill by three ROK’s. There was a single pistol shot and the troopers plodded back alone. The ROK’s did not believe you could reeducate a communist”.

... 679-282=397

sobram aproximadamente 400 vietnamitas mortos por outros...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ROKMC#Vietnam_War

THE "PRAIRIE FIRE BATTALION"

Civil War veteran Colonel John L. Jolley began military instruction in the Dakota Territory at the University of South Dakota in 1881. COL Jolley volunteered his services as the first military instructor and conducted military drills and exercises. When South Dakota became a state in November of 1889, the Department of War was unable to assign an officer to the University. When Dr. Edward Olson became University President, all male students were required to enroll in military instruction. The first officer named to the position of Professor of Military Science and Tactics was Lieutenant Alfred C. Sharpe. The instruction included military procedures of court-martials and students were required to attend drill five days a week. Officers were assigned by the Department of War and then sent off to active duty, often without replacement for several years. During the interim periods, senior students maintained the military program here at the University.

On 22 March, 1919, at the request of the President of the University and under the command of Major A. S. Balsam, a unit of Reserve Officers Training Corps (Infantry) was established at the University. Beginning in 1924 the ROTC program achieved the "distinguished college" rating and the Scabbard and Blade Society was founded. The Scabbard and Blade Society focuses on military and academic excellence. In the summer of 1942, a military camp was established. As part of the WWII war effort, under the command of COL Joseph Church, 400 recruits were sent to the University of South Dakota. The constant turnover or personnel would place up to 600 recruits at the University at any one time. In early 1944 COL Church was replaced by MAJ Fred Sims who was a University of South Dakota graduate. During the 1954-55 academic year the ROTC program was changed to General Military Science. In 1969, the compulsory element was removed from ROTC and all student participation since that time has been voluntary.

Military Science incorporates educational opportunities in three areas: classroom instruction, leadership training and related extracurricular activities. The ROTC program maximizes the opportunity for college students to study and participate in America's defense. Whether the student desires only an introduction to leadership principles and National Defense or is motivated toward a career as a military officer, every effort is made to provide the knowledge and experience needed to fulfill each individual's goal.

CARRYING ON A PROUD TRADITION!

HISTORY OF THE "PRAIRIE FIRE BATTALION" (The Other History of Prairie Fire)

Some of the unenlightened might think that the PRAIRIE FIRE BATTALION was named for a carelessly set conflagration which used to plague farmers and suchlike.... THEY COULDN'T BE MORE WRONG!!

PRAIRIE FIRE was the code-name for highly classified deep reconnaissance and strike operations conducted by well-trained, exceptionally motivated and resourceful SPECIAL FORCES operational detachments into Laos during the VIETNAM WAR. These operations were an essential part of the US Military Advisory Command's intelligence and interdiction campaign against the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese during the late 1960's. The officers and NCOs who participated in PRAIRIE FIRE were resourceful, dedicated, and unafraid to assume new responsibilities and take a few chances. They were leaders!
