Citar
Coast Guard to run FRC-B programme
The US Coast Guard has
assumed responsibility from
Integrated Coast Guard
Systems (ICGS) for
developing the Fast Response
Cutter B (FRC-B).
The decision follows criticism of
the Northrop Grumman/Lockheed
Martin consortium over the design
of the National Security Cutter
(NSC). Both this design and FRCA
were reported to have potential
weaknesses in their hulls although
this has been vehemently denied
by ICGS which states the revised
designs have been accepted as safe
by the Coast Guard (Naval
Spyglass Vol 3 No 6).
FRC-B will be for a dozen hulls
and will be worth some $600
million. It is designed as a stop gap
solution. They will probably be
based on proven designs with a
request for proposals anticipated
next month.
But Congressional concern
about alleged rising costs, said by
ICGS to be due to modifications
in requirements following the
Twin Towers attack, has led
Senator John Kerry to introduce
legislation preventing the Coast
Guard from signing a new ICGS
contract when the old one
concludes in June. He is seeking a
competition to provide a new
framework for upgrading the Coast
Guard.

Agora percebo porque é que levas com tanto karma negativo. És “dull”, como diz o Biden e nem atinas com o tópico certo.
