Posted on April 16, 2010 by worldef The IMPERIO unmanned aircraft system being developed by the Portuguese PAIC consortium (Portuguese Aerospace Industry Consortium) has made its first operational flying test on April 14.The project which involves Portuguese R&D centers and companies with the support of Lockheed Martin Maritime Sensors & Systems is intended to develop an unmanned system for tasks like maritime surveillance and forestry fires control.The Lockheed Martin involvement is included on the 100% offset package negotiated by Portugal according the upgrade project of five Portuguese Air Force P3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft valued of EUR99.7 Million.
