GENERAL REQUIREMENTS/PROVISIONS3.1 Scope Of Work3.1.1 The intention is to acquire, VTLB Mortar Systems (120mm) as defined in the Specific Requirements (Paragraph 4). These systems shall equip 2 Platoon Level Units (PLU)3, allowing
immediate and timely fire support, as established in the NATO 2020 Capability Codes & Capability Statements.
3.1.2 The weaponry system shall be a 120 mm calibre Mortar, mounted on an armoured vehicle platform (VTLB) and with automated fire control system;
3.1.3 The full VTLB Mortar System (120mm) performance capability shall, at a minimum provide the following general requirements :
a. Essentials(1) Shoot and scoot allowing rapid entries/exits from fire positions;
(2) A minimum range of 7 km;
(3) Ability to use standard NATO mortar ammunition;
(4) Firing rate in excess of 10 rounds of mortar ammunition per minute;
(5) Automatic fire - The weapon is controlled and operated through the automatic fire control system;
(6) The VTLB Mortar System (120mm) shall be fully mission operable and deployable with a minimum crew of 2 soldiers;
(7) The armoured vehicle crew cab (driving) shall provide personnel protection capabilities against kinetic threats (light machine guns at 30 m, 155 mm artillery fire at 60 m and 6 kg anti-tank mine bursts under the vehicle body (K2 M2b - STANAG 4569);

The provision of Automatic Fire Control Systems, in each system, while keeping the concept of a Fire Direction Center (FDC);
(9) Integration of an Automatic Fire Control System, interoperable with national and NATO C2 systems (e.g. BMS) with the possibility of each weapon being set up as a FDC -Figure 1. Following a Call for fire from a Forward Observer, this system must allow the automatic calculation of firing data and its communication to the weapon, with reference to the current NATO standard (STANAG 2934);
(10) The Automatic Fire Control System must:
a. Allow the user to enter data from firing tables for different types of ammunition;
b. Allow voice, video and data communications in broadband transmissions that support messages, images and video (10);
c. Georeferencing with the possibility of mapping integration (11).
b. Desirable(1) Possibility of increased range using a charge extender or long range assisted ammunition;
(2) Shall be compatible with 120 mm or 81 mm ammunition available in the supply chain, in accordance with STANAG 4110;
(3) The capability to use a calibre reducer to reduce the costs of training and operations, while at the same time ensuring greater safety for our troops.
