The French Air Force´s CPA 30 (Commando Parachutiste de l’Air) airborne special combat rescue team is to receive FN Herstal Minimi 7.62 mm light machine guns and as well as FN Herstal MAG 58 7.62 mm general-purpose light machine guns. The MAG 58 will be operated mounted on the team´s P4 lightweight utility vehicles.
The Bordeaux located CPA 30 tactical unit is currently equipped with Thales Optronique Sophie MF long-range multi-function binoculars, Vectronix Vector laser range finder, Saab Bofors Dynamics AT4CS 84 mm anti-armour weapon, PAMAS G1 9 mm pistol, FAMAS 5.56 mm assault rifle, Heckler & Koch HK 416 5.56mm x 45 assault rifle, Heckler & Koch MP5 SD 9 mm sub-machine gun, FN Herstal Minimi 5.56mm light machine gun, Sako Defence TRG-42 precision rifle, FN Herstal Tactical Police shotgun, Heckler & Koch AG-HK416 40 mmx46LV grenade launcher, INEO Defense Pirat laser pointer, night vision goggles from Litton Electro-Optical Systems (now ITT Exelis), Schimdt & Bender PM II scope, L-3 Eotech 412 sights, magnifiers, satellite, HF and VHF communication systems, global positioning equipment Rockwell and lightweight mortars.
To perform its mission, the CPA 30 rely on SA 330Ba Puma and EC 725 Caracal HUS (Hélicoptère pour Unités Spéciales) tactical transport helicopters of French Air Force´s squadron EH 1/67 “Pyrénées” based at the BA 120 Air Force Base of Cazaux.
