PLASAN SASA TO PROVIDE A NATO MEMBER WITH THE M-PAV 2 - A NEW MULTI-PURPOSE UP-ARMORED HMMWV SOLUTION
ISRAEL, AUGUST 4, 2005. Plasan Sasa, a major developer and manufacturer of combat proven ballistic protection systems, announced that it has been awarded a contract for its new Up- armored Multi-Purpose HMMWV version, the M-PAV, by a NATO user.
This latest member of Plasan’s HMMWV-based NATO configured family, M-PAV 2 adds additional load space protection and greater mission flexibility to its original successful low profile missile carrying M-PAV 1 vehicle designed for a NATO army. Approved by AMG and compliant with all requirements for maintaining HMMWV chassis flexibility, the new M-PAV 2 armor application design retains all aspects of the legendary HMMWV multi-terrain ability.
Plsan Sasa is one of only two armoring companies worldwide approved by AM General (HMMWV's manufacturer) to provide up-armor solutions for their widely deployed HMMWV.
New Levels of Platform, Troop & Equipment Protection
With the same 4-wheel mine protection and all-round armor to STANAG Level II featured through the entire family, the new M-PAV 2 uniquely extends its armor to passenger accessible rear load areas as well.
Adding a fully-armored rear load area of over 2.2m³ without encroaching on the front compartment, the M-PAV 2's internal height of over 1100mm and minimum width of 1300mm easily swallow a 1x1x1m block through its rear double doors. Despite greater and more comprehensive levels of protection provided to the vehicle-mounted equipment and systems, the company's composite armor solutions still give unprecedented payload capacities of - 1300Kg for M-PAV 1, and 900Kg for M-PAV 2. It also has an optional rear roof hatch that can be fitted with an extendable radar system that retracts into the protected rear area.
The M-PAV 2 is also configurable with a third row of seats and extra windows, for the first time offering a fully-armored 6-seater HMMWV variant.
New Dimensions In Ergonomic Design
With soldiers' combat-efficiency uppermost in mind, the company’s designers upgraded both ergonomics and maintainability for the M-PAV 2.
To greatly reduce the energy wasting 'tin box effect' often experienced in military vehicles, Plasan's innovative M-PAVs offer a unique sandwich-structure composite armored body that provides insulation from temperature and noise, single-piece panoramic windscreens and sweeping side glass for uninterrupted field of vision, flush-fitting easy open and close doors and cushioned internal door trims. With raised roof-line extending the front screen to create a more spacious cabin (M-PAV 2 is 200mm higher than M-PAV 1 or other standard HMMWVs) Plasan's new M-PAV 2 helps ensure that soldiers can remain combat-ready even on extended duty aboard the vehicle.
Plasan's M-PAV HMMWVs have been designed in kit form based on AMG’s M1113 chassis, and are available for localized assembly in any basic manufacturing facility.
