Isso é um dos grandes problemas dos estaleiros, estão sempre a criar soluções para problemas que não existem.

Basta olhar para os holandeses que pensavam inicialmente  que um LPD com algumas capacidades de AOR era o que resolvia.



Agora afinal vai ser um AOR com algumas capacidades de LPD que vai resolver porque chegaram a conclusão que o Karel Doorman não chegava.


O que faz falta a Portugal é um LPD realmente capaz e um AOR o mais barato possível de operar de forma a ser realmente eficaz na sua utilização.

The forward section of “Jacques Chevallier”, the first of four logistic support units LSS (Logistic Support Ship) ordered by Chantiers de l’Atlantique to Fincantieri under the FLOTLOG program (“Flotte logistique”), was delivered November 6th at the Castellammare di Stabia (Naples) shipyard.

The FLOTLOG program consists in the construction of four Logistic Support Ships (LSS), destined to the French Navy, by the temporary consortium between Chantiers de l’Atlantique and Naval Group under the Italian French LSS Program led by OCCAR (Organization for Joint Armament Co-operation) on behalf of DGA, the French Armament General Directorate, and its Italian counterpart, NAVARM.

The highly innovative LSS program, similarly to the units of the multi-year program for the renewal of the Italian Navy’s fleet, provides a considerable degree of efficiency and flexibility in serving different mission profiles.

The LSS unit combines features of transportation and transfer to other vessels of both liquid (diesel fuel, jet fuel, fresh water) and solid loads (emergency spare parts, food and ammunitions). The first vessel, “Vulcano”, has been delivered by Fincantieri to the Italian Navy at the beginning of 2021.

Isso nem é claro, é translúcido. Aliás, agora com o escândalo ligado aos Comandos, para quem ainda não se tivesse até agora apercebido, deu bem para ver em que estado a coisa se encontra: um Ministro à toa, um CEMA descredibilizado, desautorizado e a prazo, um hipotético futuro CEMA (VALM Gouveia e Melo) bastante condicionado após as tropelias do Costa, e sem ter grande margem para a revolução que pretendia levar a cabo após tomar posse, e um CEMGFA "hidrográfico" que andava exultante após a aprovação da LOBOFA, mas que agora se lixou e estará no olho do furacão ao ser apontado como o responsável pela não comunicação do caso ao "papagaio-mor do Reino".

Continuo a afirmar que face ao que a Marinha é hoje, não existe lógica em falar-se de um LPD. Quanto muito o JSS e mais tarde logo se via, até porque tirando os submarinos, o que temos é antigo e faltam patrulhas, helis, draga-minas e guarnições para o que existe (em JSS sempre gostei do que era apresentado para o Canada.)

Damen launches new LST built for Nigerian Navy

Damen Shipyards Sharjah (DSS) in the United Arab Emirates has launched a new landing craft (LST 100) ordered by the Nigerian Navy.

The company revealed that the launching ceremony took place a few months ago at Albwardy Damen, Sharjah, UAE. The keel-laying ceremony for the vessel was held in February last year.

On completion the 100-meter, roll-on/roll-off landing ship will have the capacity to accommodate a crew of 32 and 250 Embarked Marine Forces personnel.

The vessel also has deck space for vehicles, a helicopter / UAV deck and significant space for cargo, which can be loaded via both a stern and a bow ramp or using the 25-tonne main crane.

These and other capabilities will enhance the Nigerian Navy’s ability to deploy troops and military hardware and vehicles in support of maritime security operations, as well as the supply of relief material in the event of disasters or other crises. Overall, it will be a critical component of power projection for the enhancement of Nigeria’s maritime security at every level.

The Nigerian Navy’s LST 100 is scheduled for delivery in 2022.

Located on a 284,000 square meter site, DSS is a joint venture between Damen Shipyards Group and Albwardy Marine Engineering. The yard has the facilities to repair and construct all type of vessels and has so far delivered tugs, workboats, support vessels, dredgers, landing craft, floating docks, barges and pontoons.

Damen offers a wide range of standardised LST vessels from 40-metres up to 120-metres, all fully customisable to meet the specific needs of each client.

LST 100
The new LST has a complement of 32 crew and 250 embarked persons and a length of 100.08m. She is powered by 2 Caterpillar/Cat 3516 C-rating engines and 4 Caterpillar C-18 generators. Furthermore, she has an endurance of 15 days at 15 knots. If she is to be used for humanitarian missions/evacuation, she can accommodate over 450 persons on its upper and lower decks in short trips.

The bid opening process for the procurement of the LST was held on 19 December 2017 and supervised/conducted by a team from the Bureau of Public Procurement as well as a technical committee of the Nigerian Navy. The Shipbuilding companies that participated were Damen Shipyards of the Netherlands, Anadolu Shipyard of Turkey and Indian Shipyards GOA of India. On 13 June 2019, the NN and Damen Shipyards signed the final general arrangement plan and specifications on the LST 100 and this date of 13 June 2019 became the effective date of the contract for the LST 100. The contract duration as agreed by both parties was approximately 36 months from the effective date of the contract. The Keel laying ceremony for the LST 100 was held on 9 December 2019 at The Damen-Albwardy Shipyard in Sharjah the UAE. The immediate past CNS Vice Admiral IE Ibas placed the Nigerian Navy insignia into the keel and sealed it.

Não encontrei nada em relação a custos, mas:

O Cpt Dahun acrescentou que o novo navio seria usado para projetar a força naval da Nigéria e fornecer assistência humanitária em apoio à política externa do país. “A oferta para este projeto foi altamente competitiva, já que várias outras empresas de construção naval concorreram para sua construção”, disse o vice-almirante Ibas durante a cerimônia.
