Dear ACIGers,
this is to announce that the French magazine Avions just released its Hors Série Avions No.22, titled "La Guerre Iran-Irak: les Combats Aériens", Volume 1, by Brig. Ahmad Sadik, Farzad Bishop, and Tom Cooper.

Though the topic is already known in general, this is a very much updated story. Volume 1 concentrates on orders of battle of Iranian and Iraqi air forces before the war, and then goes on with a lenghty chapter about air-to-air combats, providing very detailed information about most of air combats from late summer and autumn 1980, as well as most important air battles from later periods of war.

On the basis of information available from both sides directly involved in this conflict, as well as "intersted observers", we were able to cross-check plenty of information, and present it in entirely new light. Many air-to-air engagements are described as seen from both sides.

This is an information- and action-packed volume, which we are sure readers will enjoy greatly.

It is also richly illustrated, foremost with help of plenty of previously unpublished photographs (115 in total), as well as original artworks. Many of later are detailling unit insignia and weapons carried by aircraft from both air forces.

Price per copy is €14.50, and the volume is at best purchased directly from the website of publisher, Lela Presse, here (link).

We hope that this feature is to find your interest, and are very proud to announce Volume 2, to be published early the next year, as Hors Séries Avions No.22. This is going to contain the rest of chapter on air-to-air combats, as well as chapters on strategic bombing campaigns and anti-shipping operations of both sides.

Best regards,

Tom Cooper
