Speaking at the IQPC Surface Warships 2015 conference in Genoa on 28 January, Vice Admiral António Manuel Fernandes da Silva Ribeiro, the Portuguese Navy's chief of materiel, said the upgrade package would include new engines and avionics.

The scope of the embodiment will be similar to the Brazilian Navy Super Lynx upgrade for which AgustaWestland was brought under contract last year.

The Brazilian Navy (Marinha do Brasil - MdB) has contracted AgustaWestland to upgrade eight of its 12 Mk 21 Super Lynx (AH-11A) maritime helicopters.

The contract, which was announced by the company on 2 July, is valued at EUR117 million (USD160 million) and will see AgustaWestland replace the helicopters' engines, navigation systems, display consoles, and mission avionics.

Specifically, the current Rolls-Royce Gem 42 Mk 1017 engines will be replaced with the LHTEC CTS800-4N, as fitted to the AH.9A, Super Lynx 300, and AW159 Lynx Wildcat. This is geared at enhancing performance in 'hot and high' conditions.

'Glass' displays will be integrated onto the helicopter, allowing a full night vision goggle-compatible cockpit. AgustaWestland will also incorporate a new avionics suite, comprising a tactical processor, satellite based navigation system, traffic collision avoidance system, instrument landing system, and a countermeasures dispenser integrated with a radar warning receiver and electronic surveillance measures. A new electrically powered rescue hoist will also be added.

According to AgustaWestland, the end result of these upgrades will be "better performance, operational range, and aircraft mission effectiveness". Work will begin in mid-2015 at AgustaWestland's facility in Yeovil, England. The first helicopter is scheduled to be delivered back to the MdB in the third quarter of 2017, and the contract will be complete by early 2019.

Separate to this particular upgrade package, the MdB is also looking to install cabling on six of its AH-11A helicopters to allow the installation of the FLIR Systems Star SAFIRE III sensor turret. Preliminary studies are ongoing.

Ja agora, se me permitir gostaria de colocar duas perguntas...sabe porque razao nao temos misseis de superficie Sea Skua nos LYNX ?
E falta de dinheiro para os adquirir or e porque simplesmente o radar Bendix nao e capaz ou falta o FLIR sensor, SAFIRE III.

E a outra pergunta e se sabe se esta previsto na modernizacao dos LYNX a aquisicao desta capacidade ?

Vector Aerospace, May 08, 2015 - Vector Aerospace's world leading position for maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of the Lynx military helicopter has been further underlined by a programme conducted at the company's Fleetlands facility in Gosport, Hampshire and the Portuguese Navy Squadron based in Lisbon.

The initial project involved one of the Portuguese Mk.95 Lynx, being inducted into Fleetlands for structural repairs together with significant rectification of the fuel systems, flying controls, electrical looms, engine doors, cabin doors and a complete refinish of the airframe.

In order to meet the Portuguese Navy's deadline, Vector completed the work by deploying a team of three mechanics and an electrician to Lisbon.

While on-site, the Vector team also carried out rectification work which enabled another Lynx to be returned to service. The Portuguese Navy reports that overall they are very impressed with the level of support provided to the project and that the route for future opportunities is opened.

As recently reported in November 2014, Vector also secured the agreement of a long-term contract to provide structural maintenance and technical support for the French Navy's Lynx Mk.4 helicopter fleet. Fleetlands has the only main build/repair jig for this aircraft type in the world, making Vector the leading supplier of deep structural repairs on the Lynx platform.

Vector Aerospace UK Managing Director Michael Tyrrell said, "This project is another significant step in our expansion into world markets for rotary wing MRO."

Não sei se deveria pôr aqui a info, mas aqui vai. Os Ingleses andaram nesta ultima semana num acto de charme.

Podes pôr camarada, o Garcez não se vai importar. Os ingleses o ano passado trouxeram cá o Puma Mk.2, não quer isso dizer que nos queiram vender também. Apostaria que, tal como com os "novos" Puma o ano passado, estes Wildcat vêm fazer alguns dos ultimos testes antes de serem destacados em operações.
