The French Dewoitine D.550 was a high speed version of the Dewoitine D.520. The prototype first flew in 1939. It was kept hidden from the Vichy Government but was damaged by an Allied air attack in 1944 and then scrapped. Only the one prototype was built.
The production version of the D.550 was the D.551. Three examples were built before the armistice but none of them ever flew.
