Os F-16 Block 60 dos Emirados não têm um sistema IRST instalado?

Parecem ter, não encontro informação em parte nenhuma :(


Mas tanto quanto sei o Viper vai ter através de POD.

A minha parte racional defende o F-16 V (modernização), com aquisição de mais e novo armamento (ex.: Iris-T). A minha parte irracional pede os F-21 ou os F-15X.





Ainda não se paga para sonhar... mas tenho consciência que isso não vai acontecer.

é exactamente como eu penso, e qq uma das opções era uma boa escolha !!!

Dos actuais F-16 MLU, quantos existem em serviço do PA I, do PA II e qual a diferença de horas entre as células de ambos os programas? Calculo que os PA I sejam os quem têm mais horas para dar, resta saber o número, e quão viável seria vender os restantes MLU do PA II e adquirir novos de fábrica F-16V.

Os PA I são 19, os restantes são PA II.

De qualquer forma os PA I nunca fizerem reforço estrutural... Em termos de construção são mais recentes e foram sempre operados/mantidos pela FAP... Sem transitar por n esquadrões, da USAF, da ANG/Air Force Reserve.

Correcto e afirmativo. Das actuais 8.000 horas (do Falcon UP/Falcon STAR) para as 12.000 horas.

Os F-16A/B Block 15 OCU novos pertencentes ao Peace Atlantis I já traziam de origem o programa de reforço estrutural Falcon UP, pelo que até hoje não foi necessária qualquer extensão da vida útil da célula. Os aparelhos do PA II, pelo contrário, tiveram - e os últimos ainda estão - de ser submetidos a 3 intervenções:

1º - o Falcon STAR (STructural Augmentation Roadmap), programa de intervenção e reforço estrutural com vista a conferir uma vida útil de 8 mil HV nas células A/B MLU das nações EPAF, denominado na Holanda por Pacer AMSTEL ("After MLU Structural Enhancement of Lifetime");

2º - modernização dos motores para a versão F100-PW-220E;

3º - Mid-Life Upgrade (MLU).


O Falcon STAR consiste no reforço estrutural interno e externo da aeronave de modo a que esta suporte mais anos de operação, cargas externas mais pesadas, e cargas de manobra até aos 9G's sem risco de falha estrutural grave. As aeronaves assim intervencionadas, quer sejam A/B MLU ou C/D, podem ser facilmente identificáveis pela presença de placas de fortalecimento estrutural (strengthening plates) sobre a fuselagem central, em pontos-chave identificados como os mais problemáticos.

Como por vezes é difícil devido ao esquema de pintura apercebermo-nos da presença delas, deixo aqui uma imagem dessa instalação num kit de F-16A à escala 1/48 e depois imagens reais do F-16AM "15133" para que se possa ver onde se situam.

O SLEP (Service Life Extension Program) que, por exemplo, a USAF está neste momento a efectuar à sua frota aumentará a vida útil da célula para 12 mil HV das 8 mil actuais, mais ou menos 30 anos em distância temporal.

Com estas 14 células Gripen C/D na Esq. 201 podíamos ficar apenas com os 19 PA I para a Esq. 301, e dispensar (e vender) os PA II e PA III. :mrgreen:

More than a dozen fighter jet hulls ordered to keep the assembly line going in anticipation of the new fighter jet intended to "kill Russian Sukhoi jets" haven't been completed and are believed to have become a burden for Swedish taxpayers.

The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) ordered 14 hulls of its prized Saab Gripen fighter jet, which have been left empty and unused. While the price of the deal remains undisclosed, it is speculated to have set back the state hundreds of millions of kronor, the Svenska Dagbladet newspaper reported. While the official price tag for the 60 Gripen Es ordered by the Swedish state was SEK 37 billion (almost $4 billion), Saab was also commissioned to build the hulls for an additional 14 Gripens (10 single-seat Gripen C and four two-seat Gripen D).

This batch was largely ordered to maintain the competence to manufacture fighter aircraft, as the production of Gripens for Sweden's Air Force and other export customers, such as Thailand, South Africa and the Czech Republic, almost ceased, and a substantial break was looming. The extra hulls were therefore ordered to keep the assembly line running before the production of Gripen Es, dubbed the "Sukhoi Killer", could begin."Gripen is an important safety interest for Sweden, and it was important to keep production going and hone the skills", FMV press officer Henrik Hedberg told Svenska Dagbladet.

The decision to start production of the Gripen E was taken by the former centre-right government. The the extra 14 Gripen C/D hulls were intended with several potential export transactions in mind. The clou of Saab's management's marketing campaign has been the idea that they can deliver brand new Gripen C/Ds in 18-24 months, which is significantly faster than its competitors can manage. However, as of today, the hulls remain empty and lack the equipment needed for a functioning fighter. The FMV didn't specify how much taxpayer money the Swedish state spent on the hulls. A rough estimation indicated that the transaction involved at least several hundred million kronor.

In its statement, the FMV management stressed that the cost of the 14 hulls is included in the total cost of the entire Gripen E project."More detailed than that, we cannot be as the agreement for Gripen E is classified as confidential", the FMV told Svenska Dagbladet. FMV declined to disclose its plans on what to do with the empty hulls. Since they cannot be used for Saab's brand new Gripen E, they are likely to end up unused, unless a new deal is reached. One possibility is to use the hulls as a replacement for crashed Gripen jets. Previously, parliament decided that the Swedish Air Force should have 100 Gripen C/Ds. Today, there are 95. No such decision has been made so far. With 60 Gripen Es ordered, Sweden remains their largest (and only) user. The rest of the Gripen users, such as the Czech Republic, Hungary or Thailand, fly the previous model C/D model.

The MS20 capability enchancement

The Gripen Material System 20 (MS20) upgrade is part of the Gripen design philosophy to evolve continuously and tailor solutions according to customer’s various needs. The MS20 capability enhancement for Gripen C-series involves both hardware and software upgrades, giving a whole series of improvements and new functionality both in terms of the aircraft itself and the ancillary support and training systems. The capability upgrade was first introduced with the Swedish Air Force in 2016. In addition to a basic package, each customer can customise their order with optional upgrades depending on their specific national requirements.

Essentially a software package, MS20 includes integration of the MBDA Meteor beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile and Boeing GBU-39 Small Diameter Bomb I; improved radar modes; a digital close-air support capability; increased Link 16 connectivity; civil navigation enhancements; chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) protection for the pilot; night-capable operations using the SPK 39 Modular Reconnaissance Pod II; and a ground collision avoidance system (GCAS). Another major change involves new maintenance periods for servicing, and a number of updates to simplify fault diagnostics. This means that the aircraft can be out on missions longer.
