Advanced Range versions provide further flexibility to airlines worldwide São José dos Campos, January 25, 2005 - Embraer announced today the formal launch of new versions of the EMBRAER 190 and the EMBRAER 195, respectively the 100- and 110-seat aircraft of its brand new four-model E-Jet Family.
The new Advanced Range (AR) versions come to meet current and potential customer requirements for increased range and operating flexibility. JetBlue, the launch customer for the EMBRAER 190, is also the first operator to opt for the new AR version, converting its order of 100 firm aircraft plus 100 options from LR (Long Range) into AR.
“Embraer is constantly assessing the requirements of its customers, and the new EMBRAER 190/195 versions represent an attractive alternative to those airlines needing some extra range thus increasing their operational flexibility and market coverage,” said Frederico Fleury Curado, Embraer Executive Vice-President for Civil Aviation Market.
The EMBRAER 190/195 AR versions have structural reinforcements in the fuselage, wings, pylons and flight control surfaces that allow the aircraft to be operated at higher Maximum Takeoff Weight and Maximum Landing Weight, translating in up to 300 nautical miles (nm) additional range, depending on specific operational conditions of each individual airline.
In standard conditions (Long Range Cruise, full passenger load and FAR reserves) the nominal range of the EMBRAER 190 AR version is 2,300 nm while the EMBRAER 195 AR’s is 2,100 nm.
“We're very excited to be the launch customer of the EMBRAER 190 AR aircraft and look forward to bringing JetBlue's unique product and service to communities that have been eagerly anticipating low fares,” said Dave Barger, JetBlue's President and COO. "With the EMBRAER 190's new longer range capability, we now have many more opportunities to introduce JetBlue to new communities as well as some routes we currently serve.”
The EMBRAER 170/190 Family of 70 to 110-seat E-Jets is a new-generation of commercial aircraft featuring advanced engineering design, exceptional performance, superior operating economics, and a spacious cabin.
The certification campaigns of the 100-seat EMBRAER 190 and the 110-seat EMBRAER 195 aircraft are expected to be concluded in the third quarter of 2005 and second quarter of 2006, respectively. As of December 31, 2004, the new jet family had logged 343 firm orders and 427 options.
