A sério Lancero?!

MOWAG PIRANHA IIIC 8x8 for the Brazilian Marines

Brasilia, Brazil - On September 6th 2006, the Brazilian Navy and MOWAG GmbH - a General Dynamics company - signed a contract for the delivery of 5 units of the PIRANHA IIIC 8x8. The vehicles will be delivered in the amphibious version and will be used in a UN Mission in Haiti next year. For MOWAG, this is the first sale success of PIRANHA III Vehicles in South America and the first order from Brazil at all.

Previously, in the year 2000, the Brazilian Ministry of Defence tested the PIRANHA III in competition with other vehicles available on the world market and awarded the MOWAG product with the necessary qualifications. As the first Force, the Brazilian Navy has ordered 5 vehicles in the amphibious version for its Marines, including logistic support. Out of the 5 vehicles ordered, 4 will be delivered in the APC - Armoured Personnel Carrier and one in a maintenance version. Because the PIRANHAs should serve as soon as possible in a UN Peace Keeping Mission in Haiti, a very short term of delivery has been agreed. Production of the 5 PIRANHAs will take place at MOWAG's facility in Kreuzlingen and the vehicles will be delivered during 2007.

MOWAG believes that its products will appeal to many other customers in South America because of those countries' interoperability requirements with NATO and/or UN forces, in the light of joint peace keeping operations. The threat situation in such missions specifically calls for a high level of protection for the vehicle crews against mines, ballistic weapons and EOD. With the worldwide operating PIRANHA IIIC 8x8, the technology-advanced company from Kreuzlingen-Switzerland offers a proven product, which fulfils this high-ranking requirement of protection, comfort and mobility.

The Brazilian Marines ordered further 5 MOWAG PIRANHA IIIC 8x8 Vehicles

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) announces that on December 17, 2007 the Brazilian Navy and MOWAG GmbH signed a contract for a further batch of 5 PIRANHA IIIC 8x8 in amphibious version.

The newly signed contract comprises 5 PIRANHA IIIC 8x8 APC vehicles in the configuration as delivered previously. The contract signed now is a follow-on order to the 7 vehicles ordered in 2006 (6 APCs and 1 Recovery Vehicle). The PIRANHAs will be used primarily within the framework of international UN mission of the Brazilian Marines in Haiti.

General Dynamics awarded Order for 18 PIRANHA IIIC 8x8 Vehicles from Brazilian Marines

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – General Dynamics European Land Systems has received a contract from the Brazilian Navy for 18 PIRANHA IIIC 8x8 armored personnel carrier (APC) vehicles for use by the Brazilian Marine Corps.

The newly signed contract calls for vehicles to be manufactured in three amphibious configurations: Armoured Personnel Carrier, Ambulance and Command. This contract is a follow-on order to the 12 vehicles ordered in 2006 and 2007 (11 APCs and 1 Recovery Vehicle). The PIRANHAs will start to be delivered in 2010 and will be used primarily within the framework of international United Nations mission of the Brazilian Marines in Haiti and will be seen in other UN missions in the future.
