Announcement of Weapon System Acquisition Plan

 I have the honour to announce the following weapon system acquisition plan in accordance with the article 8 of the Act on Contracts to which the government is a party and the article 412 of the Defence Acquisition and Management Regulation (MND Instruction No. 733).  
 
1. Program Name: Korean Helicopter Program  
 
2. Program Purpose: To develop Korean Utility Helicopter  
 
3. Qualification for Participation: Domestic/foreign manufacturers with development experience in helicopter system, components, or related equipments.  
 
4. Program Description: The development and purchase of the system and related components will be conducted by a local helicopter manufacturer (KAI) and research & development agencies (ADD, KARI).  
 
a) Local Helicopter Manufacturer (KAI)  
Development Items: 38 items including system design/integration, fuselage, power system, control system  
Purchase Items: 14 items including analog instruments  
 
b) Agency for Defense Development (ADD)  
Development Items: 15 items including MEP integration, mission computer, EW management computer  
Purchase Items: 12 items including MWR  
 
c) Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI)  
Development Items: 18 items including rotor  
Purchase Items: 5 items including particle separator  
 
 
KHP Bidder's Conferences (RFP Distribution) will be held on April 15, 2005 (for foreign manufacturers) and April 21 for domestic manufacturers.  
 
6. Others  
a) Please refer to the annex for detailed work-share assignment of Development Leading Agents for system/component development and purchase items.  
 
b) Request for Proposal will be distributed to participants during the bidder's conference. Specific inquiries should be directed to the agent responsible for development.
