Rosoboronexport Demonstrates in Doha the Latest Special Technical Equipment and Special Weapons

On 4-6 October, 2004, “Milipol Qatar’2004” 5th International Exhibition of special types of weapons will be held at the International Exhibition Center in the capital of Doha, State of Qatar, under the patronage of H.H. the Amir Hamad Ben Khalifa Al-Thani.
More than 200 companies and firms from 36 countries expressed their wish to participate in this Middle-East important event devoted to domestic security. Matters of internal security, boundary control and counterterrorism will predominate at the exhibition. Exhibition will focus special attention of visitors to the Qatar’s Ministry of Interior 4-year investment program for safeguards by reasons of the future 2006 Asiatic Games in Doha.
Russian Federation at the Exhibition will be represented by the Rosoboronexport State Corporation that will arrange a common exposition of special technical equipment and weapons of leading Russian manufacturers. Russian display will allow visitors to get acquainted with models, information and advertisements of about 250 products of military and civil application, latest developments of individual protection, new models of small arms and special weapons, protection systems of state boundary and especially important objects.
Rosoboronexport will promote most competitive models of small arms of military and special-purpose use, among which there will be Kashtan and Bizon-2 pistol-machineguns. Traditionally, visitors of the Exhibition will be interested in such world-known models of high-effective small arms as Kalashnikov 5.56 and 7.62-mm sub-machineguns of upgraded versions AK-101, AK-102, AK-103 and AK-104 and VSS and SVDS and SVD Dragunov sniper rifles. At the Corporation display, visitors may familiarize themselves with export versions of portable and hand anti-tank grenade launchers and grenade launcher systems.
Naturally, visitors of the Russian exposition will pay attention to a wide range of export highly effective special small arms designed by one of the well-known among Russian and foreign experts Precision Engineering Central Research Institute, including a SP-1 9-mm self-loading pistol, SR-2 9-mm pistol-machinegun and SR-3 9-ìì compact sub-machinegun. Original design of bullet and optimum ballistic characteristics provide high penetrating performance and killing power, also when firing at targets protected by fragmentation-proof jackets as well as at unarmored combat materiel. Special service men shall be interested in PSS 7.62-mm pistol allowing noiseless and flameless shooting that might be often of decisive importance when neutralizing terrorists and saving hostages.
AS sub-machinegun and 9-mm VSS rifle that can pierce armored jacket at a distance of up to 400 m will be also offered for the attention of specialists. As to reliability and possibility of use under adverse weather conditions (dust, dirt, sand, rain, etc) and at a temperature from -50 °C to +50 °C, these sub-machinegun and rifle are highly competitive with “unpretentious” AKM sub-machinegun.SPP-1M and APS sub-machine guns demonstrated for underwater shooting are first of all characterized by high penetration performance of ammunitions, which is provided due to original design of bullet and best selected ballistic solution. This weapon may also be successfully used on land and aimed firing may be performed by a diver from any position.
It is also worth noting such ammunitions as SP-4, SP-5 and SP-6 cartridges for special weapons produced by “Klimovsky specialized cartridge plant” closed joint-stock company “V. A. Degtyarev’s plant” open joint-stock company will offer at the Exhibition the Kord 12.7-mm machinegun against light-weight armored targets and firepower, capable of engaging enemy’s manpower at ranges of up to 1500-2000 ì. Quality of technical solutions and high processability provided the sub-machinegun with high combat and performance characteristics. Kord may be installed on any motor and armored vehicles, helicopters, boats and sea vessels, railway platforms, affording aimed firing.
New generation of bullet-proof jackets will the focus of attention among the special equipment shown at display. “Sfera” Company having a many-year experience in manufacture of individual armor protection will show at display the latest models of bullet-proof jackets and helmets made of special steel. Individual protection means of this company allow combat missions to be successfully solved to counteract terrorism in reality.
